My Review:

Erica Vetsch took me back to the wilds of Texas in 1874 where love and loyalty clash between two very stubborn yet lonely people.  After the devastating loss of her brother and his wife, Priscilla travels from known civilization to collect her niece and nephew from the Army fort they have been living at and bring them home with her.  However, Priscilla did not realize that she would meet the stubborn, handsome, and frustrating Uncle of theirs, Major Elliot.  Both want what is best for these two children and believe the other will not provide that.

This was a fun read as we get to see two individuals realize that they are both wrong and that life can turn out so unexpectedly no matter how well intentioned or how well laid out your plans are. This story has its share of danger and excitement.  I enjoyed watching these two fall in love.  We get see what life was like in the fort and how precarious their situation and keeping the peace with the Native Americans were.  I thought the heart change of both Priscilla and Elliot was beautiful to watch and shows what can happen as they let go of their stubbornness, fear, and stopped letting the past control their present and future.
